Based in Cape Town, Unit 43 Distillery launched in 2019 after two years of experimenting with different recipes. The Unit 43 team built their own equipment, including the still, using mostly recycled materials. Five of the fifteen botanicals are gathered in the Fynbos, a belt of natural shrub and heath found in South Africa's Western Cape and Eastern Cape provinces.

The Gin Guide Review: Unit 43 Gin is a gin that excites the senses. It is distinctive while achieving botanical balance and a journey of flavour from initial top notes to the long, warming finish. Juniper is plentiful, fresh and almost herbal, alongside fragrant florals, sweet critus and aromatic, warm spice, with each element harmonising as well as having its own an identifiable presence. Sweet and savoury, fresh and warming, fruity and floral - Unit 43 Gin beautifully harmonises contasts with skill and personality. - Paul Jackson, 2022
