Berkshire Botanical Dry Gin - Review & Tasting Notes
About Berkshire Botanical Dry Gin
Launched in 2019, Berkshire Botanical Dry Gin is produced on the 9,000 acre Yattendon Estate in West Berkshire - the largest grower of Christmas trees in the UK. The copper pot still, named Harry, resides in the Royal Oak Pub & Hotel in the heart of Yattendon. The Berkshire Botanical philosophy is to create sustainable botanical spirits inspired by the botanicals growing on the Yattendon Estate, and Berkshire Botanical Dry Gin takes inspiration from the Christmas tree growing by featuring Norway Spruce. |
The Gin Guide Review
Berkshire Botanical Dry Gin achieves the skilful balance of carrying depth of flavour while also presenting a smooth, light and crisp mouthfeel. When neat the aromas are enticing with a wealth of vibrant, bright citrus alongside piney juniper. On the palate it is zingy and zesty with citrus, again combining with piney juniper and underlying earthiness. Peppery spice builds into the clean finish as bittersweet citrus lingers. It's a gin that's asking to made into a Martini. With the addition of tonic it's the plentiful pine notes that flourish and come to the fore, making lemon or orange peel an ideal garnish starting point. - Paul Jackson, 2020 |

Meet the Maker
"The inspiration behind this gin is the countryside in the area where I live. When we started looking to move out of London several years ago we visited Yattendon and absolutely fell in love with the area. We moved to Frilsham on the Yattendon Estate initially and we’ve been in the area ever since." - Founder, Johnny Neill
