Henstone Distillery
Henstone Distillery in North Shropshire was originally established in 2017 by Chris & Alexandra Toller. They launched their flagship Henstone London Dry Gin in 2018, made in a 2-day process in batches of around 1,500 bottles using a 1,000L still. Now run by Chris and his son, Henry, Henstone Distillery was named 'Distillery of the Year' in The Gin Guide Awards in 2020, before repeating the feat in 2023.

  • ​Botanicals: Juniper, coriander seeds, orris root, angels wreath, cardamom, hops, orange peel, lemon peel. Base Spirit: Wheat.
  • Serving Suggestions: Gin & Tonic with a garnish of Orange, or in a Martini, Gimlet or White Lady.
  • ​​Tasting Notes: Aromas of earthy juniper, subtly floral hops and citrus. Balanced on the palate with juniper, cardamom and citrus peels. A long, warming finish with citrus peels and gentle spice.
The Gin Guide Review: Henstone Gin is well-rounded, warming and balanced, with a smooth and oily mouthfeel. With an abundance of flavoursome oils from the botanicals, the gin can be seen to louche as the oils are released when diluted with tonic. On the nose it is aromatic with juniper and deep rooty earthiness, and juniper and traditional gin botanicals come to the fore on the palate with cardamom and orange and lemon peels that provide strong depth of flavour. Meet the Makers

"The inspiration behind our gin rests with a chap called Ulrich Kothe. Ulrich had run the Kothe Still Manufacturing company in Southern Germany for many years, having spent his career building stills and distilling. On a due diligence trip to his factory, where our still was being constructed, he let us sample his products including his gin.
