Henstone Gin - Review & Tasting Notes
About Henstone Gin
Henstone Gin was launched in 2018 by Henstone Distillery in Oswestry, Shropshire. The distillery was established by two married couples, Chris and Alexandra Toller and Shane & Alison Parr. Shane and Alison are the owners of Stonehouse Brewery and joined forces with Chris and Alexendra to move into distilling, initially with whisky production in mind. Featuring classic gin botanicals and 2 that remain a secret, Henstone Gin is made in a 2-day process in batches of 1,500 - 2,000 bottles using a 1,000 litre still they call 'Hilda'. The Gin Guide Review Henstone Gin is well-rounded, warming and balanced, with a smooth and oily mouthfeel. With an abundance of flavoursome oils from the botanicals, the gin can be seen to louche as the oils are released when diluted with tonic. On the nose it is aromatic with juniper and deep rooty earthiness, and juniper and traditional gin botanicals come to the fore on the palate with cardamom and orange and lemon peels that provide strong depth of flavour. A hugely impressive debut and flagship gin for Henstone Distillery. - Paul Jackson, 2018 |

MEET THE MAKERS"The distillery name comes from the founders' house names – Chris and Alex live in an old public house called “The Hen and Chickens” and Shane and Alison live in Stone House. After much deliberation the name Henstone emerged!"
