Igneous Distillery
Igneous Gin was launched in 2023 by Miles and Katie Pote after they were inspired to establish a distillery in the building that Miles' late parents had used as a workshop and for storage for their antiques business. Located in the extinct Ardnamurchan Volcano crater, the distillery is home to a 250L Genio still, and the Igneous brand name is inspired by the surrounding igneous volcanic rock that their water is drawn through. Igneous Gin features 12 botanicals including local flora such as heather, bog mytle, coltsfoot, and rowan berries. The gin was originally planned to be bottled in ceramic bottles produced by Wade Ceramics, but after the historic Staffordshire pottery went into administration in 2022, Miles and Katie set up their own ceramic studio from which Katie individually hand casts and finishes each bottle.

Meet the Makers
"Igneous Gin was designed through researching the local botanicals we had available on our doorstep. With the help of a local Herbalist we spent 2 days walking, foraging and profiling the botanicals. We then went through the long process of development on a small 3 litre copper alembic at home in our kitchen." - Miles & Kaite, Founders
