The Gin Guide Review
Taplin & Mageen Signature Gin combines a classic core of botanicals with flavoursome citrus, spice and soft florals. On the nose, orange zest and grapefruit leap out alongside juniper and earthy anise notes from five spice. On the palate the mouthfeel is smooth and dry, and the traditional core is well constructed to provide depth beneath layers of citrus oils, spice, anise and floral hints from chamomile and hops. The finish lingers with citrus being joined by cinnamon and peppery spice. It's a characterful gin with depth, complexity and flavour transitions that show skill and attention to detail in its development and production, while the use of Yorkshire hops is a nice connection to the local area. When mixed with tonic, brighter citrus and hoppy notes are elevated and orange peel or pink grapefruit peel make for ideal garnish starting points. - Paul Jackson, 2020 |

MEET THE MAKER
"Our distillery was once a storage facility for cargo being delivered into the Dales, and where trains were repaired. We think that it is appropriate that our methods of distillation — using steel and copper — resonate with the building’s industrial heritage, and we have breathed life back into this historic piece of Yorkshire."
