Vogis Gin

​Vogis Gin, named after the Armenian word for 'Spirit', was launched in 2021 by Co-Founder Vardan Karapetyan. The gin takes inspiration from a gin recipe using Armenian juniper and local botanicals that was created in the 1980s by his Grandfather - scientist and doctor, Professor Vardan Yavruyan. Each of the botanicals used in the gin, including Armenian coriander seeds, basil, chamomile and black rosehips, are distilled individually in copper alembic stills before being blended.

Tasting Notes: Full and complex aromas with juniper, herbaceous herbal notes and subtle fruitiness. On the palate, juniper, fruit and herbaceous notes with Earl Grey tea and underlying soft chamomile. A lingering finish of coriander seeds, basil, and Earl Grey tea.
Serving Suggestion / Garnish: Gin & Tonic with a garnish of Rosemary or Basil, or in a Negroni or Basil Smash.
The Gin Guide Review: Vogis Gin is hearty, flavoursome and complex, bringing together a classic core of juniper and coriander seeds with contemporary herbaceous, fruity and tea notes. Strawberry and rosehips make for a pleasing combination that delivers a layer of fruitiness to balances with the drier notes of Earl Grey tea and basil, while chamomile offers soft undertones that again link seamlessly with the rosehips - all the botanicals used have a detectable role and connect with eachother. With Tonic Water, the botanicals unite futher for a cohesive flavour with elevated juniper and a combination of the herbal herbaceousness and gentle fruitiness being prominent, ahead of a lingering tea tannin note. "Our inspiration began when we discovered an old notebook of our grandfather’s, within which he had written his ideas, formulas and processes for the perfect gin recipe.
