About the York Gin Distillery
The York Gin distillery is the only one within the city of York and is established in the village of Acaster Malbis, just past the Archibishop’s Palace as you drive from the city centre.
The distillery was designed from scratch by Operations Director Harry Cooke and the central feature is the beautiful 300-litre alembic copper still, Ebor – short for Eboracum, the Latin name for York when the Romans lived there 2,000 years ago.
The distillery is not currently open for tours or tastings, but is running a series of online shows with gin quizzes, distillery tours, cocktail making and more on YouTube.

A Note from Co-Founder Emma Godivala
"Once you get inside and see our beautiful copper still, our stainless steel tanks, the other accoutrements of gin-making plus the lines of bottles, there’s quite a lot to love about it. It’s not a beautifully-crafted, purpose-built distillery. Then again, we expect you’ll love our copper still, Ebor (short for Eboracum - the Roman name for York) and will enjoy seeing where and how York Gin is distilled, bottled, labelled and packed."
