What are your backgrounds and what are your roles at CAP Gin? Adam is a former Sports Marketing Executive and leads the Marketing of CAP Gin to work with like-minded brands and events from the South of France. James is a Director of a super yacht brokerage firm in Monaco and leads on all things operational as well as overseeing flavour innovation. This ranges from liaising with the distillery and glassware suppliers, monitoring stock levels and overseeing logistics for both France and the UK, including supplying direct to bars and restaurants across the South of France and London. Andrew is CEO of a trading company in Monaco and leads on strategy and business administration. What made you decide to start CAP Gin? We all live in the South of France and often talked about creating our own French-inspired gin. We were unable to find a premium gin distilled in the South of France which truly encapsulates the wonder of the Riviera. The conversation became reality in 2018 when we set off on our CAP Gin journey. What's the inspiration behind CAP Gin? Our vision for CAP Gin was to create a product that reflects the history, culture and architecture of this famous corner of the Mediterranean. We wanted to bring to market a brand that merges unequivocal French style with the world-famous British history of quality gin making - representing the Côte d’Azur and placing it firmly on the World ‘Gin Map’. Our aim was to create a premium strength gin with a refreshing citrus taste profile that seasoned gin drinkers and newcomers would enjoy. Can you tell us more about the distillation process and botanicals? The recipe has been refined and perfected in collaboration with Dr David Clutton – or “Dr Gin” as he is known for his extensive knowledge of pot stills and spirit distillation, helping produce some of the world’s most prestigious and successful gins. David says “CAP Gin is built on a solid foundation of premium quality juniper berries and it encapsulates the true essence of the French Riviera's hills and coastal fringes. “With citrus elements derived from Lemon and Sweet Orange peels, the sensational combination of aromatic Fleur d'Oranger buds and Mimosa flowers delivers a complex and elegant, yet perfectly balanced gin, of superior quality. Soft floral notes combine with the piney freshness of juniper to create a stunning and contemporary gin. The taste delivers a smooth and refined yet tasteful flavour with a lingering palate, essential for a great Gin & Tonic.” What are your favourite ways to serve CAP Gin?
CAP Gin works in perfect harmony in the most classic and timeless cocktails. It elevates the Martini and Martinez, the botanicals add character to the Negroni and French 75 and is the perfect choice for the Gimlet and the classic Gin and Tonic. Our favourites are the CAP ‘Gin+Sonic’ (half and half tonic and soda) and the CAP Martini, both created by our very own mixologist Jimmy Barrat from ZUMA restaurant group Dubai. What's next for CAP Gin? We are delighted with the product we have created and have been blown away by the feedback received to date. While sales and the reception generally in our home market has been outstanding, we cannot wait to take CAP Gin global. So next up for CAP Gin is the broadening of its distribution through the UK market as well as ensuring that CAP Gin is a leader within the industry. As the world looks to entertain at home, now more than ever, ensuring that consumers can buy directly from CAP Gin or through Amazon remains a priority for the business. Also Read:
