After creating a distillery at his home in Chrishall in 2018 and developing a recipe over the following year, Edward May launched Jake's Gin in January 2019. The botanical recipe includes classic gin botanicals alongside a diverse range of others, from rosemary and hawthorn from the distillery garden to Moroccan lemon verbena and Iranian orange flowers. Plants and botanicals are something that Edward knows well, with his career being in designing and providing arrangements of plants for businesses, especially restaurants and bars. Production is very much a family affair and Jake's Gin is named after their pet spaniel and distilled in a copper still named after Ed's grandmother, Gladys.
