What did you do before Rhein Gin, and how did you start?
Our background would not typically lead us into gin. Tim and I both studied business together in the Netherlands; I became an entrepreneur after my Ph.D, and Tim started working as a Management Consultant. Yet we always had a strong interest and passion for, and one day we decided to make passion our business – live the dream!
What is the inspiration behind Rhein Gin?
Purity – simple as that. The German word "rein", which is included in our name r[h]ein gin, means purity. We were both desperately wanting a gin without botanicals. And since we could not find the perfect one, we decided to create it ourselves.
How did you get from the idea to the finished product?
The entire journey from idea to launch took us a bit more than a year. Key milestones on that journey included the search for a distillery, finding the right mix of juniper berries for our product, as well as the creation of a purisitic bottle that would satisfy us fully. All of this was new to us, but we were and still are driven by the passion for our product.
What is the distillery like?
It is a family run distillery with a 200 yrs+ history in producing handcrafted "Schnaps"!
How would you describe Rhein Gin in 3 words?
