*** PRESS RELEASE FROM NO.1 FAIRHAM GIN ****
Introducing the newest member of the No.1 Fairham Gin family; Ochre Edition. A juniper-forward, Dry Lancashire Gin, that is complimented with fresh orange and clementine notes, accompanied by subtle warming spices. After launching their Signature Edition in April this year, Liam Stemson and Ellis McKeown see their second release as a fine example of what their distillery is all about. This recipe was created from the ground up with the aim to enhance the gin, the juniper, rather than becoming it. They use fresh orange and clementine to bring forward the fresh citrus flavours and have added in a blend of Autumnal spices to give the backend of the gin a warm lift. Cinnamon, ginger and nutmeg marry beautifully with the zesty notes, giving you the full-bodied flavour that you come to expect in a No.1 Fairham Gin bottle. Ellis said, “Gin lovers who have tried our Signature Edition will know that we are big on being gin. We use botanicals to compliment the juniper rather than overpowering it, and again, this is what you will get in our Ochre Edition, which proudly joins as part of our core range.” The pair decided to distill their own gin after seeing an opening in the market for a craft gin that would sit in between the two contrasting sides of a traditional London Dry and the booming flavoured gin market. As gin lovers themselves, they wanted to create something that would still represent the core ingredient of gin, the juniper, but enhance it with botanicals to give a unique modern take on the traditional crafted spirit. Liam adds, “We decided to give our Ochre Edition a title rather than opting for a ‘this and that’ name purely down to the nature of our gin and the ethos we have on making sure that we celebrate the juniper. Although distilled with orange and clementine, the tart juniper is still the star of the show and is complimented with the fresh, sweet, zesty notes and finishes with the carefully blended warming spices.” Like their Signature Edition, chill filtration is again cut out from their distilling process in their latest release to retain the natural flavours. This means that you will notice a pearcelsent haze to the gin when it’s chilled, and even more so with Ochre due to the oils from the oranges and clementines. The latest gin coming out of Lancashire is vapour infused, copper pot distilled and stands at a strong 45% ABV. Liam and Ellis say to pair Ochre Edition with lots of ice, Fever-Tree Mediterranean tonic water and top with fresh orange peel.
