Isle of Skye Distillers was established in Portree in 2016 by Alistair & Thomas Wilson, both from the island. Taking inspiration from the landscape and using Isle of Skye juniper, water from the Storr Lochs and a secret botanical that is only found at high altitudes on Skye, the brothers launched their flagship gin, Misty Isle Gin, in 2017. Their distillery is home to four 100L copper pot stills in which the botanicals are vapour infused, with all distillation, bottling and labelling is completed by hand on site. Isle of Skye Distillers followed their launch by opening a shop in Portree from which Alistair & Thomas host Gin School experiences. Now, 6 years after the launch of Misty Isle Gin, Isle of Skye Distillers have presented the new look for their range of gins and vodka, including their Classically Aromatic Gin, Salty & Sweet Gin, and Fruity & Floral Gin. Founder Alistair Wilson takes great pride in the new look, saying "It has been a labour of love for us over the last 18 months bringing a new design to our bottles and brand. The new bottle captures more of the essence of our island home and we hope that you find all the little nuggets on there which are dedicated to our family, island and culture." Each one of the products has a different representation of the iconic Isle of Skye landscape, such as the bottle colour of our Classically Aromatic Gin which signifies our crystal clear water. Every surface of our new bottle has been utilised to showcase to the world our wonderful homeland. The whirlpool waves on the bottle signify the waves of our seas that surround the Isle of Skye. The label shows the mountain name, height and contour lines, just like a map. The base of a bottle shows an outline of the Isle of Skye. And the stoppers feature a copper medal in reference to the distillery's hand made copper stills.
You will also find plentiful evidence of Alistair & Thomas' love of their culture and the Gaelic language, with Alistair elaborating, "we show this by marking where we’re from and where we distill - Port Rìgh - King’s Port. We love our island home and all it brings, including Àile na Beinne - the scent, smell, breeze or air of the hill. We are surround by an iconic landscape, we thankful for it and all it gives to our amazing home. Provenance is everything to the Spirit of Skye." You Might Also Like...
