What did you do before creating BaroGin? I have been in the world of commerce and entrepreneurship for more than 10 years but in different sectors to spirits until now. What made you decide to create BaroGin, and what's the inspiration behind it? The art of distillation is a family passion handed down from my grandfather. I’m a history lover and I found some alchemy textbooks from the 1500s with “Gin/Jenever” recipes featuring wine, and this was my inspiration for the creation of BaròGin. I found the perfect flavor in the wine of my city, Barolo wine, so I then founded Langa Spirit. Can you tell us more about the distillery? Our gin is produced by Bordiga 1888 distillery. Their passion for tradition and the quality of raw materials is the reason why we chose them as our main partner. Thanks to their great experience, we have made sure that we have created a product of exceptional quality with traditional values. Can you tell us more about the distillation process and botanicals? We have decided to keep the top secret manufacturing process because it was hard work to create! We use a Copper Pot Still heated by a wood fire and our recipe includes juniper from the Alps, the finest botanicals, passion and love :-) What have been the biggest challenges and achievements so far? It was very challenging to balance the recipe and to bring out the pleasant scents of Barolo red wine. It required 14 months of tests with many types of wine but now we are very happy with the result. We have already won awards and people like it a lot. How would you describe your gin in 3 words?
Balanced, smooth and elegant. What's your favourite way to drink your gin? Gin & Tonic or a Dry Martini. Which gins would you always have on your gin shelf (other than your own of course!)? I try to taste as many interesting gins as possible. I find that Monkey 47 Gin in particular has a pleasant taste. What's next for you and BaróGin - any exciting plans? With my family we have a farm and it would be nice someday to distil using only botanicals grown by us. I am also already working on new products that are again closely linked to our roots.
