What made you decide to create your gins, and what's the inspiration behind your them? Our heritage lies in beekeeping, and we are still very much committed to championing this profession today as well as supporting British bee conservation. We started out as a small honey business, and we thought that using honey in alcohol would be new and exciting. That led us to creating our original KEEPR’s spirit - the Classic British Honey Infused London Dry Gin - and go on to create a collection of honey-infused spirits (a raspberry gin, an elderberry & mulberry gin, a spiced rum and a bourbon) that are all made with 100% pure British honey from hives across the UK. Can you tell us more about the KEEPR's range? All the flavours in the range are an iteration of our original honey-infused spirit – with the honey being of the same style and stock across the collection. The only product in the range that is an exception is KEEPR’s Smoked Honey Infused Bourbon. For this, the honey is smoked by a local butcher for up to 48 hours. The smoking imparts a lovely flavour into the honey which beautifully pairs with our American Oak-aged bourbon. We recently launched a new bottle for the range that is a celebration of our hive to bottle story and our beekeeping heritage. The shape, look and feel, and colours were all carefully selected to represent the natural ingredients in our spirits. Can you tell us more about the distillation process for KEEPR's gin and the botanicals? KEEPR’s gin is distilled in Ada, our 1,000 litre copper pot still with a 60-litre infusion chamber to ensure we extract the purest of flavours for our spirits. Powered by four electric heating rods, it uses no gas or oil fuels, greatly reducing our carbon footprint. We use a neutral grain spirit and vapour infuse a combination of 11 botanicals for a crisp flavour. Our botanicals include coriander, angelica seed, orris root, cinnamon, cardamom, liquorice root, lemon peel and bitter orange peel and 100% pure British honey. The honey is blended into the gin after distillation. What have been your biggest achievements so far? Our new bottle design has definitely been our biggest achievement. It has been well-received by our customers and the industry and we are proud of what it represents. It was important to us that when people saw the KEEPR’s bottle that they made that instant connection between our spirits and our beekeeping heritage. We feel that we have achieved that now. The hexagonal pattern on the lower half of the bottle pays homage to the honey infused into the spirits, while the tapered shape reflects the tail of a honeybee. Along with the hive to bottle message on the neck, these design elements have been incorporated to establish the connection between the spirits, beehives, and bees themselves. We are also proud that we have moved to a lighter weight bottle made with around 50 per cent recycled glass and recycled paper stock for the label, which are small but significant steps forward in our efforts to become more sustainable. How would you describe your gin in 3 words?
British Honey Infused. What's your favourite way to drink your gins? KEEPR’s Classic British Honey Infused London Dry Gin works best with classic tonic and a sprig of fresh rosemary; the Honey Infused Raspberry with lemon tonic and garnished with mint and a lemon slice; and the Honey Infused Elderberry & Mulberry with lemonade and orange peel. Which gins would you always have on your gin shelf (other than your own of course!)? We’d have to say our sister brands – Dodd’s Organic Gins and Two Birds Gin! What's next for KEEPR's - any exciting plans? We are exploring ways in which we connect with our customers, offering more brand-linked experiences like the competition we recently ran for World Bee Day to win a beekeeping experience Buy KEEPR's Gin
