What made you decide to create your gin and distillery?
The strong belief in our product concept as well as our passion for gin.
Can you tell us more about the gin and botanicals?
Knut Hansen is a London Dry Gin which is based on 14 locally sourced botanicals macerated for 24 hours before distillation. The key botanicals are juniper, apples, basil and cucumber.
Can you tell us more about the distillery?
Our small distillery was just opened in 2019 in Hamburg city. The heart is a 150 litre column still built by Arnold Holstein. It's well worth a visit if you are in Hamburg!
What can people expect and experience if they visit the distillery?
Lots of background information about gin, Knut Hansen and our company. For sure there is quite a lot to taste but the best is to see our distillery in action!
What have been the biggest challenges so far?
Finding a great distribution partner in the UK, which we now have with Niche Alcohol Supplies 😊
What have been the biggest achievements so far?
Opening our own distillery in 2019 and winning DOUBLE PLATINUM @ ASCOT AWARDS 2022.
How would you describe your gin in 3 words?
Classic, smooth, special.
What's your favourite way to drink your gin?
Gin with fresh tonic added by a slice of grapefruit.
What gins would you always have on your gin shelf (other than your own of course!)?
HOPE from South Africa and Rutte from the Netherlands.
What's next Knut Hansen - any exciting plans?
We are launching a non-alcoholic KNUT HANSEN this summer and there is another awesome new product in the pipeline for 2022. More to come…
