Knut Hansen Dry Gin - Review & Tasting Notes
Knut Hansen Dry Gin
A long long time ago Knut Hansen, the legendary German sailor from Hamburg, began his exploration of the world's oceans. This gin honours his stories of countless adventures of the open seas. For Hamburg Distillery, producing a local gin means using local ingredients and the 14 botanicals are sourced from the Hamburg regions. |
The Gin Guide Review
Behind the piercing exterior of the tattooed, scarred sailor is a vibrant and charming gin. Knut Hansen Gin combines juniper, apple sweetness, cucumber freshness, green herbaceous notes and earthy liquorice to great effect and with impressive balance. The nose is instantly and enticingly fragrant with juniper, apple and herbs, and this continues onto the palate with liquorice emerging in the finish. It is characterful and engaging from the bottle to the spirit. When mixed with tonic the gin is fresh and herbaceous with all of the flavours holding true and remaining strong when diluted. Orange, cucumber or basil are ideal garnish starting points for a G&T. - Paul Jackson, 2020 |

MEET THE MAKERS
"Our small distillery was just opened in 2019 in Hamburg city. The heart is a 150 litre column still built by Arnold Holstein. It's well worth a visit if you are in Hamburg!"
