What did you do before creating your distillery and Norlyk Gin? I'm Claus Norlyk and at age 54, I had just retired from a career as a pro golfer. I had been travelling the world with my golf bag for the last 26 years, playing and teaching, getting to know people for better and worse. My wife and two teenage daughters appreciate the fact that I’m not travelling so much anymore. My Co-Founder and Cousin, Jesper Norlyk is age 49, and still work for one of the biggest windmill companies in the world. It's double closed doors and top secret there. What's the inspiration behind your gin? We are passionate about quality products. The simplicity in the recipe together with our “state of the art” Genio Still made it possible to create our dream of “The perfect Gin” Can you tell us more about the distillery? Our distillery is still “small Batch” (but not for long, we hope) with a production of approximately 400 bottles a week. All the way from fermenting of the pure monohydrate (dextrose) to collecting botanicals, distilling, bottling, labelling, all made by ourselves A computer controlled Genio 500 is the perfect match for our homemade mash. All “cuts” are exclusively made by us, though the computer says different, i.e. the final cut is made way before the tailings arrive. Regarding botanicals, less is more. Try it for yourself…! What can gin lovers expect and experience if they visit the distillery for a tour/tasting? An honest and unforgettable tour with plenty of different tastings. What have been the biggest challenges and achievements so far? Getting all the governmental approval, that sucks…..and getting sublime feedbacks from all our customers, that melts our hearts. How would you describe Norlyk Gin in 3 words?
Smooth, tasteful and unforgettable. What's your favourite way to drink your gin? As an G&T - we prefer, 5 cl Norlyk Gin, 12 cl Indian Tonic from Harboe, slice of lemon and a lot of ice cubes. What's next for you and Norlyk Gin - any exciting plans? In the final stage of landing a distribution deal with Germany, Holland, Belgium, Austria, and the UK. You Might Also Like...
