St Giles Gin was launched in Norwich in 2017 after the founder, Simon Melton, was inspired by the gins he tasted while travelling the world as a professional diver. The distillery is located in a small plot next to Simon's family home and is named after the St Giles area of Norwich, as well as referencing the St Giles area of London which was at the heart of the gin craze in the 18th century. The distillery is a charming timber-clad barn and St Giles Distillery's gins, including their original gin, Divers' Strength Gin and Raspberry, Rhubarb and Ginger Gin, are distilled in a German 400L copper still. The still took 5 months to build to their specification, including a triple distillation column, botanical basket and custom condensing tower, and it is named Anna after Simon's first daughter. The distillery also hosts gin making experience for gin lovers. The 2 hour sessions include a tour of the distillery and a gin making class using mini copper pot stills, before naming, bottling and labelling your own gin and enjoying a tasting sessions of St Giles gins.
