London is synonymous with Gin due to its long history of Gin production and the London Dry production method. While London was the location of the scene depicted in the famous 'Gin Lane' illustrations from 1751 by William Hogarth, today London is an exciting hub of gin distilleries and gin bars. Since Sipsmith Distillery become the first distillery to open in London for 200 years, following the change of historic laws, London is now home to an impressive collection of distilleries, from major producers through to small batch distilleries.

London Gin Reviews - A to Z
Green Room Gin
Green Room' Distillery was set up by Duncan McLean and Seb Frost, two friends who were working in the theatre industry that was so heavily impacted by the lockdown in 2020. Having acquired a copper pot still from a friend in France 3 years earlier, Duncan's design studio was converted into a distillery before launching Green Room Gin in 2021. Green Room Distillery partners with the charity BACKUP, which supports technical professionals in the entertainment industry, with £1 being donated from each bottle sale.
Since 1863, five generations of the Hayman family have produced gin. Hayman's London Dry Gin is distilled using the same traditional 2-day process and family recipe of 10 botanicals used for the last 150 years. For many years Hayman's Distillery was based in Essex, but in 2018 they moved production back to Balham in London, to a site just 4 miles from where the family first started making gin back in the 19th Century.
Lea Valley Gin
Lea Valley Distillery, based in Harringay in London, was founded in 2020 and their London Dry Gin was launched in early 2022. The distillery and their gins are named after the valley of the river Lea which runs into London through parts of Hertfordshire and Essex and is home to sites of natural beauty as well as recreational, cultural and sporting locations. Each of the Lea Valley Gin range is made a core of 11 botanicals, including juniper, angelica root, coriander seeds, cardamom, nutmeg, orange peel and lemon peel.
