About Papillon Dartmoor Distillery
|
Papillon Dartmoor Distillery was established in 2017 and is based in Moretonhampstead within the Dartmoor National Park. Distilled in copper alembic stills and cut with Dartmoor spring water, Papillon Gin is named in honour of the Pearl Bordered Fritillary, an endangered Dartmoor butterfly that feeds on wild violets. 1% of revenue from every bottle sale is donated to a butterfly conservation project that protects this species. |
Papillon Gin - Review
|
The Gin Guide Review
Papillon Gin is a complex gin with a balance of fruity citrus, warming and peppery spice, gentle florals, tart berry notes and soft chamomile, all working together with cohesion, balance and flow. The addition of Tonic Water really opens up the piney juniper, earthier characters and citrus, while the florals are fragrant throughout and the spice and pepperiness give plentiful presence when mixed. Papillon Gin is impressively constructed and neatly brings together classic botanicals with those from Dartmoor, giving personality, charm and a real sense of place. - Paul Jackson, 2021 |

Meet the Makers
"The environment and nature has always been my passion and a part of my job roles. One of the projects I worked with was Butterfly Conservation on Dartmoor, focussed on helping the endangered Fritillary species that live on the moor. I knew I wanted our business to donate towards a local conservation project and this one caught my interest. Papillon was born!" - Adam & Claire Hyne, Founders
