What did you do before creating Didsbury Gin?
Both being avid gin drinkers, the business was set up in Liam’s Didsbury living room as a sideline while both were still working full time, Smallwood as a restaurant manager and Manton as a Corporate Social Responsibility Manager for a construction firm. What made you decide to create Didsbury Gin? We were 2 gin lovers who found ourselves with an idea for a business in our living room! Following the initial idea and drive to pursue it as a business, we were both made redundant from our full time jobs, and it gave us the push we needed to go for it. Soon after, we secured a listing with Harvey Nichols and from there we’ve continued growing at a rate we could have never anticipated. Being haled as “No1 in the world” by Metro, and “One of the most new exciting British gins by Vogue”, only gave us more encouragement to continue. What have been your biggest achievements so far? One thing we are particularly proud of is being approached by Wetherspoons originally to take part in the pub group’s gin festival, and after blind tasting over one hundred gins they selected the top ten brands who were then invited to pitch for just five spaces at the event. Wetherspoons were so impressed by Didsbury Gin that we walked off with a deal to become the chain’s newest premium flavoured gin. How would you describe Didsbury Gin in 3 words? Bright, Vibrant, Zesty. What's your favourite way to drink your gin? Our favourite is a simple G&T. Our Didsbury Gin Original, a good quality tonic and a wedge of pink grapefruit. What gins would you always have on your gin shelf (other than your own of course!) It’s a great time currently for gin drinkers due to the huge variety and choice of flavours, however one of our firm favourites is definitely Monkey 47 Gin. What's next for Didsbury Gin - any exciting plans? So many exciting things to come this year including launching some new flavours towards the end of summer! Also Read...
