What did you do before creating your gin/distillery? After years of working as an accountant, Jenny decided to have a career change having discovered a love of gin. Having tried (pretty much) every gin going, Jenny decided that she would create her own (mainly because she had run out of gins to try). So she did. It turns out she has quite a talent for it. What made you decide to create your gin/distillery, and what's the inspiration behind your gin? OX1, OX2 and OX4 - red, white and pink relate to the carnations that are worn on the lapels of the Oxford University undergraduates on their examination days by Oxford students.
Can you tell us more about the distillery and your distillation process? We use a neutral grain spirit which is 96% ABV (alcohol by volume) to create our Oxford Dry Gin. We then add the flavour using our selected botanicals. The base botanicals (including juniper berries and coriander) are added to the spirit to macerate for 24 hours, after which the additional botanicals are then added to the pot still and we then begin the distillation process. After the distillation process is completed, the gin is then stored for 10 days to allow the flavours to fully blend. In addition, although we filter our gin, we do not chill-filter which enables us to retain all of the flavours in our gin. Due to the retention of natural oils, the appearance of the gin in the bottle may look hazy. This may also be evident when you add the mix of your choice to the gin. What can people expect and experience if they visit the distillery for a tour/tasting? Distillery Tour & Tasting: A tour of our distillery and gin tastings, we offer the luxury OX Gin Experience where you can get up close and personal with our team and sip a range of multi award winning OX Gins. Nibbles provided to help soak up the experience. The OX GIN School Experience: An immersive Gin school where you will take control of a copper alembic still (under our supervision) and create your very own OX Gin. On successful completion of the gin school experience, you will have created your very own OX 70cl bottle of gin to take home and enjoy! How would you describe your gins in 3 words?
Multi award winning What's your favourite way to drink your gins? A double measure in our very own OX Gin glass with lots of ice and a neutral tonic water.
