What did you do before creating your gin distillery?
I was working as a bartender. How did it all start and what is the inspiration behind Peter in Florence Gin? As a bartender I always want to know what’s behind the spirits and after my experience in London I fell in love with gin. So when I came back to Italy I bought my first pot still. Then I met the owners, who love with gin as well, and we created Peter in Florence distillery. Can you tell us about the distillation process? Our distillation process is actually really uncommon in Italy because we are the first to make the London Dry Gin style , helped by having one of the only traditional, Carterhead gin pot stills present in Italy. The flavour of Peter in Florence is made out fourteen botanicals focusing on the famous Tuscan juniper and the famous orris and petals that represent Florence. What people can expect and experience if they visit the distillery? Our distillery is located inside Podere Castellare which is an Eco Resort where you can have a complete gin experience, from the plants and botanicals, to the pot still distillation and tastings and food pairing What have been the biggest challenges or achievements so far? For us the biggest challenge is communicating what it means to run a proper gin distillery, and to show how it works and ensure visitors really enjoy it. How would you describe Peter in Florence Gin in 3 words? Clean, elegant, persistent What is your favourite way to drink Peter in Florence Gin? Nothing better then a Gin & Tonic! Which gins do you always have on your gin shelf? A lot! But if I had to say one, I’d say Plymouth Gin. Also Read...
