What did you do before creating Samara Gin?
We owned and ran an e-commerce site in Costa Rica, focused on baby and pregnancy products. We sold the store before moving to UK. What is the inspiration being Samara Gin? My wife and I are Costa Rican and we wanted to create a gin that evokes the smells, nature, adventure and beauty of Costa Rica. We want people to be transported there when they drink our gin. All the botanicals used in our gin are common ingredients and flowers found in Costa Rica. Can you tell us more about the distillation and botanicals? Samara Gin is a London Dry gin, 4 times vapour infused. The key botanicals, alongside juniper, are: hibiscus, rosehip, orange peel, rose, elderflower, honey and cardamom. What have been the biggest challenges and achievements so far? Finding the perfect recipe with the right botanicals to evoke the smells and flavours of Costa Rica has been the biggest challenge for us. But we’ve been working closely with the distillery to get it just right and we’re really happy with the results and excited to bring our gin to market. How would you describe your gin in 3 words? Fresh, Smooth, Passionate What's your favourite way to drink your gin? Samara Gin works extremely well as a gin and tonic. We like it mixed one-part gin to two-parts Mediterranean tonic, with a mint garnish. It also works well with strawberries or thyme. What gins would you always have on your gin shelf (other than your own of course!)? Ophir Gin & Roku Gin. What's next for Samara Gin - any exciting plans? The first Samara Gin is floral and we are also developing spiced and fruity profiles. And something a bit special that we will keep a secret for now 😉 Watch this space… Also Read...
