 What did you do before creating SANTAMANIA Distillery? I worked all of my life developing projects, mostly in the telecoms industry. A very different life indeed :-) What made you decide to create SANTAMANIA Distillery and gins? It is one of those sophisticated dreams that stay in the back of your mind until you are crazy enough to accomplish it. When the moment finally came, we wanted to produce a high-quality Spanish craft gin distilled from grape neutral spirit and we did it. Not only they are fabulous, but they are also the only ones in the market after all these years. Of course, we had to build a distillery first, the first one in Madrid for centuries. Can you tell us more about the distillery? We are a craft distillery. That means we distil all our gins in copper stills, in truly small batches of less than 1000 bottles at most, using only natural ingredients: no chemicals no additives of any kind. Visitors to the distillery will see how a true craft distillery works. No tricks, no cheats. We are transparent and we love sharing our passion for great quality spirits.  What have been the biggest challenges and achievements so far?
It is still a challenge: teaching people how to drink better, by helping them to understand that not all gins are the same, nor they are produced in the same way. How would you describe SANTAMANIA Gin in in a sentence? Pure, silky smooth and highly delicious What's your favourite way to drink gin? If the gin is good, first of all it needs to be enjoyed neat to really experience the flavour and aroma. After that, I usually prefer a Gin and Tonic. What gins would you always have on your gin shelf? Four Pillars Gin (Australia), HOPE Gin (South Africa) and Lola y Vera (Spain) What's next for SANTAMANIA - any exciting plans? Gins are becoming a great vehicle to push new experiences to consumers, and we are working on a new collection of limited edition surprising gins that indeed will make a difference in the market.
