Style categories are defined by flavour profile, botanicals and ABV. The Winners, Highly Commended entrants and Geographic Highest Scorers for each category are defined as follows:​

• Winners: Each category has up to 3 overall winners, listed in alphabetical order. These gins achieved the highest scores across all geographical areas and will be able to display the 'Winner' logo and certificate.
  
  
• Highly Commended: Each category has up to 5 entrants listed as 'Highly Commended' (in alphabetical order). These gins achieved scores deserving of a special mention and will be able to display the 'Highly Commended' logo.
  
  
• Geographic Highest Scorers: These are the gins in each category which achieved the highest score in their respective geographical areas. Geographic Highest Scorers are shown when a minimum number of entries were received from the respective country.
