Dark Art Distillery
|
Dark Art Distillery in Kirkcudbright was launched in 2021 by Andrew Clark Hutchinson. Located in a renovated former Primary School which retains many of the original features, the distillery is open for tours and events and is home to a 450L copper pot still . Dark Art Distillery and their signature gin, Sky Garden Gin, are inspired by Kirkcudbright being known for having attracted artists to the area for centuries, and also the neighbouring Galloway Forest Park which is home to 300 square miles of loch, mountain and forest views and at night becomes one of the darkest place in Europe. In 2009, Galloway Forest Park become the first accredited 'Dark Sky Park' in the UK, and Kirkcudbright's Dark Space Planetarium is alongside Dark Art Distillery.

Meet the Makers
"For years, people have been drawn to this stunning South West corner of Scotland to experience its light phenomena. Kirkcudbright sits alongside the Galloway Forest Park and once the sun sets on the 300 square miles of wondrous loch, mountain and forest views, it becomes one of the darkest places in all of Europe. In 2009 it became the 1st accredited 'Dark Sky Park' in the UK and Western Europe." - Andrew Clark Hutchinson, Founder
