Professors Club Summer Dry Gin - Review & Tasting Notes
Professors Club Summer Dry Gin
The Professors Club gin range was launched by Afterthought Spirits Co in 2018 after a year of researching and testing recipes, and their Summer Dry Gin, Pink Gin and Secret Garden Gin were all launched in Summer 2020. The gins are distilled in a copper and steel still from Kentucky, USA and use the vapour infusion method whereby the botanicals are held in a column above the base alcohol, rather than being added directly to it. |
The Gin Guide Review
Professors Club Summer Dry Gin combines a core of traditional botanicals with citrus peels and deep, earthy and peppery spice. The roots and spices deliver a dry character and depth while lemon peel and grapefruit peel give balance and contrast with bright citrus high notes and rich peely notes. Cardamon and star anise are interwoven throughout and give cohesion and another layer of flavour, all with a smooth and rounded mouthfeel. With tonic the brighter citrus notes and anise notes are elevated to make for a dry and flavoursome G&T that effectively achieves a summery character without a focus on sweet, fruity or floral botanicals. - Paul Jackson, 2020 |

Meet the Makers
"Our still, named after my late father Geoffrey, was manufactured in the US in Kentucky by Hillbilly Stills. It’s a mix of stainless steel and copper which keeps us on our toes during the distillation."
